"One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you are, what you believe in and where you want to go." —Sheila Murray Bethel

We have curated an experience that involves the following experiences:

The Richness of Cuban Artistry and You:

The culture and arts scene is one of Cuba’s greatest offerings. We will fill our trip with music, poetry and the arts. Here are a few examples:

  • We will meet and hear Morejon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nancy_Morejón

  • Cuban National Ballet

  • Fabrica del Arte (The Art Factory)

  • Drumming is uniquely joy filled in Cuba and we are exploring it as a communications tool which we hope will open up our thinking

  • Salsa classes will be offered for our group and we will go dancing together

  • Dance with the Ballet Foklorico

  • Yoga in the gardens of the Hemingway House

  • Art tour, visit Jaimanita, a small fishing village where we will be delighted by Fustelandia, painter and sculpture Jose Fuster’s vibrant arts complex and community project. http://www.cuba-modern-art.com/en/ .

  • Instituto Superior de Arte, for a photo-shoot of one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

Experience Cuban Entrepreneurship:

Today entrepreneurship in Cuba is growing rapidly with 34% now working in private industry. We will meet Cuba entrepreneurs in a variety of settings and explore the innovations and creativity in this unique market.

The ‘Paladar’ is a unique, growing restaurant scene primarily run by women that  provides an intimate experience of Cuban cuisine and family. We will go to a variety throughout our trip.

Casas Particulares are essentially bed and breakfasts and have been around for a while but are greatly expanding with the arrival of US visitors and AirBnB, an early arrival to the Cuban market.

Cooperatives are growing throughout Cuba. These shared ownership structures are a compromise between the communist vision and entrepreneurial pressure from the Cuban people.

Your Leadership Breakthrough:

"We know that high performing women leaders reach breakthrough performance when they are able to leave their personal and professional environments, given a framework for new thinking and a space to renew and reflect,” Mercedes Martin, organizational development coach supporting the leadership program.

Daily mindfulness, leadership discussions and open space technology will structure an exploration of purpose, leadership and impact.

Global Women’s Perspective:

Musimbi Kanyaro from the Global Fund for Women recently presented at our Global Philanthropy event and she shared with us that women of the global south are making huge strides for women’s equality and safety and they are hoping see women in the US to step back up into women’s leadership globally. Women in various African and south American countries are experiencing more wage equality and political representation. This leadership experience is designed for listening, learning and exploring what is possible together.

Environment:

With so little “stuff” Cuban people have become masters of recycling, fixing, reusing and their environmental impact reflects that of most countries 75-100 years ago. This unique island has the potential to leapfrog to sustainable environmental impact. We will explore the innovations and environmental risks with experts and see the natural beauty in Cuba.

Soroa and La Terrazas, a site of a breathtaking natural beauty designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4gufBgyaiA In Soroa, enjoy a walk to the Orchid Garden and to the waterfall. The Soroa orchid garden features hundreds of varieties of orchids, covers an area of 35,000 square meters and has more than 20,000 orchid plants mixed with thousands of ferns and trees that make it a truly unique destination in the world.
